I can't believe we have tickets and will see the US playing for WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!
I bet Sports Illustrated is eating their words.....here is what they said yesterday......
"We were very tempted to go with the women's soccer team, but they could have been eliminated by the time the issue reached subscribers. Imagine the story you'd write if that happened."
-- Terry McDonell, editor of the Sports Illustrated Group, explains why SI opted to put Derek Jeeter's 3,000th hit on its cover this week instead of the U.S. women for its short-handed comeback win over Brazil in the Women's World Cup quarterfinals. The Americans' semifinal against France is on Wednesday and the issue hits mailboxes on Thursday.
A big cheer for women's soccer. This game was also great for the French Women's Soccer League...especially after the fiasco with the Men's team at their World Cup. The French Women were not expected to go this far..they qualified for the Olympics and they showed they have skill, conditioning and sportsmanship. France has new heros. Kudos to women players everywhere...
